COVID19 PROTOCOL

A Message from the Studio Creative Director, May Ann Villaneuva (she/her):

I would like to thank everyone for your thoughtfulness and support over the last year. It has brought me incredible joy to see everyone continuing our workshops and making progress along the way. I am mindful of the fact that together we are building a beautiful community of artists, ceramicists, and amazing people who want to take our workshops, while taking all precautions necessary to do what we can to limit the risk of using the studio. All class sizes will remain small for two reasons: to limit the amount of bodies in the studio at any given time, as well as a higher learning outcome

With that being said, there are always concerns and challenges being felt through our communities, and COVID19 makes this all the more evident. I want to ensure that we continue to follow guidelines set out by Health Canada, which can be found below.

Thank you all for your continued support and flexibility over the last year, in spite of the environment we are currently in, I am beyond happy and grateful that the studio has been able to provide a safe and happy environment for all.

Some necessary rules for our studio

Prior to your class or in studio time:

We ask that you please conduct a wellness check prior to each class or in studio session (this will be available and hanging by the entrance of the studio as well). The symptoms of COVID19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses including the flu and common cold, so please be diligent with and honest when answering the following questions:

Do you have any of the following symptoms?

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Cough – new onset of cough or worsening chronic cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Sneezing (not allergy related)
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Gastro Intestinal symptoms such as Diarrhea or abdominal pain
  • Nausea or vomiting

Have you been in close contact with someone who has or is being tested for COVID19?

Is anyone in your household isolating due to a confirmed or a suspected exposure?

Is anyone in the household awaiting results from a COVID19 test or has any symptoms of COVID19 (see list above)?

Has anyone in your household travelled outside of the province by air?

Is anyone in your household quarantining due to international travel?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, please do not come to the studio. We will do our best to re-book you for another time for your consideration in helping to stop the spread of COVID19

Before entering the studio/while in studio:

Vaccination Cards and Proof of Identification

Pursuant to BC Regulations, each member will need to provide a valid proof of vaccination. For BC residences, the Studio will be scanning vaccination QR codes upon entry. Please provide valid proof of identification.

We ask our community to please only visit the studio during your booked time to avoid overcrowding, if you are unsure, please give us a call prior to coming.

We are following guidelines set out by Health Canada and will continue to update as necessary. Please do not enter the studio without a facemask on, and keep the mask on at all times. Please refrain from touching or adjusting the mask while in studio.

Upon building entry, please be diligent and wash your hands in the sink with soap and water (the best way to prevent the spread of COVID19). We also have disinfectant available at the entrance. Only one person allowed at the sink at a time.

Please avoid bringing anything unnecessary into the studio, or avoid having any reason to pull your mask down while at studio.

Always maintain at least 2m or 6 feet distance from others in the studio at all times.

Please do not move any of the studio equipment as they are spaced accordingly for safety.

There are markers around the wedging table to help maintain the necessary distance while working. Please choose a marker and work from there.

Once finished, thoroughly wipe down your work area and wash all tools with soap and water.

What we are doing on our end:

Making sure that we uphold all protocols currently in place.

Reading and ensuring we are up to date with all recommendations from Health Canada, as well as updating our students and visitors of this.

Providing soap and hand sanitizer for studio use.

Having extra disposable masks available in case your mask becomes wet or dirty. Please ensure you are bringing your own mask to the studio.

Ensuring we disinfect all available areas prior to class.

Keeping windows open in the studio to ensure a constant flow of air circulation.

Staying committed to conducting our own wellness checks prior to attending the studio every morning, and cancelling classes if there are any changes.
