I was gifted an amazing opportunity to take fundamentals 1 : wheel throwing. The class was so fun and so informative. May ann is an amazing instructor and absolutely hilarious. She is with you every step of the way. I really appreciated how she wants to make sure all her students are forgiving of themselves during the entire process (because let’s be real no one starts out as a pro.) Everyone was given the step by step to be set up for success by the last few classes. If you want to try something new and challenge yourself while coming out with a few pottery pieces- you won’t be disappointed! I’m really looking forward to trying out fundamentals 2 in the near future.

Really great studio to get introduced to making ceramics. I’ve taken both the hand building and wheel throwing classes with multiple different instructors and each one is so incredibly helpful and really want the students to succeed. They provide all the supplies you need and you get to keep whatever you make after spending a few hours getting creative. I really appreciate the multiple week course structure so you have time to build on your skills through the course. If you want something simple and very self creative driven I’d advise the hand building class. Wheel is great if you want to explore what you traditionally think of with “making pottery” and you’ll come away with more uniform pieces. Either one is great and highly recommended!

Wheel throwing classes at Studio Fundamentals has been such a blast. The instructors are amazing - patient, kind, and knowledgeable! The atmosphere at the studio is always warm and welcoming… plus bonus studio dog who is just the sweetest puppers you’ll ever meet. I’ve been to a few different studios for different classes and I can safely say this has been my favourite. If you’re a beginner, have no fear, it’s the perfect place to get stuck in and get messy! I’ll be coming back again and again!!

I took my first pottery class here and it single handedly sparked my continued passion for ceramics. I am so proud to continue refining my hobby at this studio. Studio Fundamentals is an incredible place filled with the nicest most passionate people around. May Ann is a very talented ceramicist and an excellent teacher! If you are an experienced ceramicist looking for a new home or a beginner looking to dip your toes in the murky clay filled waters of pottery, this is the best studio in the city to do it.
