No — Studio Fundamentals' beginner course is designed for complete beginners, with all materials and tools provided. Beginner-to-intermediate classes are also available for students continuing on from there.

Wheel throwing uses a spinning pottery wheel to shape clay into symmetrical forms like bowls and cups, while hand building uses techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab work to shape clay without a wheel. Studio Fundamentals teaches both.

Studio Fundamentals runs scheduled classes and workshops throughout the week, and members get 24/7 access to the East Vancouver studio for independent practice outside of class times.
