Fundamentals 3 is designed for students ready to move beyond foundational forms and begin working with more complexity and scale. In this level, we focus on throwing larger pieces with greater control, while maintaining consistency in form and structure.
You’ll learn how to approach attachments with intention—whether adding handles, joining sections, or building multi-part forms—understanding not just how to attach, but when and why. We’ll also introduce spiral wedging as a more advanced clay preparation method to support even distribution, strength, and responsiveness in your clay.
Alongside technical skill-building, this course places strong emphasis on body awareness. You’ll develop core engagement and posture to support lifting taller forms while keeping the clay centered—reducing strain and increasing control at the wheel.
To get the most out of this workshop, you should already feel comfortable centering clay and have consistent control in lifting and shaping at least 2 lbs of clay.
This is a class for those looking to deepen their practice, refine their technique, and expand what they’re capable of making.
